Next Wednesday night at the Sydney .NET Users Group we have Tom Gao presenting on Facebook API using .NET and visual studio.

I'll be hosting the event as Adam Cogan is off travelling the world visiting Microsoft for the MVP Summit.

Tom will also be presenting this the following day at the Canberra .NET Developers User Group. I'll be going down and this will be the first time I've attended this User Group.

Thursday 20th March 2008

King O'Malley's Irish Pub
131 City Walk
Canberra City

Dinner: 4:30pm - 6:00pm

Walter Turnbull Building
Level 2, 44 Sydney Ave

Here's what Tom will cover:

  • Explaination to the Facebook architecture & framework
  • Facebook security and limitations
  • ASP.NET Facebook API
  • Facebook Markup Language (FBML)
  • Facebook javascript (yes, specific to facebook)
  • Facebook application development through IFrame

During the presentation he will be running through live examples in developing facebook applications for both Windows Application and Web Application. In the Windows application development example application he will actually be tapping into the API to retrieve individual profile, friends information live from facebook. In the web application he will attempt to create a live facebook application during the presentation through both FBML and Facebook IFrame approach.

Tom also will be showing off a really cool application that his company created for Sony to tie in with an advertising campaign.

Here are some links to resources if you are looking at doing Facebook applications.

Hope to see you all there for some sushi :)
