My first ever river crossing. I’m 2nd across.
One of the joys of owning a motorbike is that you get to tour the country and see amazing things. Well if you are lucky and don’t just commute everyday to work.
After a few years of just commuting, I decided to buy a dual sport motorbike to spend more time out on the roads (and dirt) with mates of mine who had long since given up the sports bikes I held on to for so long.
Yesterday was my first adventure off road. Well it was graded dirt roads through a state forest so a bit soft and nothing too tricky but still it was somewhere I’d never been before and get a little bit of experience.
The day started at 5:30am and met Zhivan and Sonny at 6:30am at Berowra before reading to head up the highway to Barrington Tops
550kms of adventure, 150kms of them on dirt.
Our first stop was breakfast at Dungog at a nice little cafe called ChillBillies
After loading up on a big breakfast and large coffee it was off to Barrington Tops national park
Stopping at Ladies Well a nice swimming hole. Not prepared for swimming and water was freezing anyway as coming off the mountain.

My bike starting to get a bit roughed up by the roads.
Dozens of cows hanging by the river. As we approached 5 were walking single file down the middle of the road and didn’t seem to fused about us.
See the roads weren’t too rough just a little bit of dust I had to deal with being at back of the pack
My first river crossing (well if you call it a river) but it was running quite fast and for the next hour my shoes were wet
Sonny liked it so much he did he 3 times. Notice the cow in background, he didn’t move an inch as I went past him.
Lunch time back at Dungog, bit more dust (by the end of the day everything had dust in it. The beer at lunch helped :)
Felt like I was on Long Way Round just for an afternoon
In total heaven, almost felt like a BMW brochure
